About this deal

They all feel unique and have their own idiosyncrasies and such as we listen to them talk about themselves or others or see small snippets and full on huge flashbacks. The further you get into the series, the more you begin to realize that the author had every single plot point, revelation and twist planned out before he ever even published the first chapter.

The human to titan battles give off the impression of speed and heart-skipping action, while titan to titan battles feel huge and epic. But soon after the Corps passes through the gate, a new and terrible threat appears — one that Erwin may know more about than he’s letting on. Most of this book was one huge SPOILER ALERT for the show, as the episodes haven’t matched up with the chapters yet, but I still couldn’t stop reading! As the Colossal Titan, Bertholdt begins setting fire to the houses of Shiganshina with his Titan's heat and sends the structures soaring through the air, bringing great devastation to the town. Giant, grotesque parodies of the human form, these sexless monsters consumed all but a few thousand human beings, who took refuge behind giant walls.Almost all of the main and supporting characters undergo development and/or get some bit of focus, so there’s not a flat individual amongst them. Attack on Titan takes place in a horrifying dystopian fantasy world that somewhat mirrors our own, like an apocalyptic Europe where the last remnants of humanity live behind massive, skyscraper-sized walls to protect themselves from the giant, man-eating monsters known as Titans lurking just beyond them.

And if they are fixed to him, they will be constantly scorched by the incredible heat, at the Titan's mercy. Although all Titans generate enormous amounts of heat and energy when transforming, the Colossal Titan takes this to the next level. The courtroom scenes were a rather interesting break from the action, though I fear they may set a standard to push this kinda-sorta low-brow series toward a false sense of intellectualism, as befell shit like Game of Thrones. The manga is about giant zombies and the people who can pilot giant-robot-esque zombie forms, but there's a lot of good shit underneath the more open "genre" aspects.

In some ways, this style lends to the horror and theme of despair, but there are still moments where you might find yourself saying 'what am I even looking at? Squad Levi attempts to attack Bertholdt with their Thunder Spears, but the Colossal's steam emission keeps them away. The rest of the collection poses the mystery of the Beast Titan, but it is not given as much focus as other things - namely, the mystery of the Walls, the in-pouring Titans who seem to have come from nowhere (there turns out to be no hole in the Wall), the true identities of Ymir and Krista, the true identities of Reiner and Bertolt.

Between the dead-eyes, ever-changing heights/lengths of ligaments, awkward posing, and overall character designs… no. Now, Mikasa, Armin, and the surviving members of the Survey Corps must band together with their sworn enemies to stop the Rumbling and Eren once and for all. This is not for everyone, and if you just want to sit down with a cup of tea and have a good time, this is absolutely not for you.

Really great series so far that is unrelenting with it's plot twists and especially action in this one (well 5 volumes).
