About this deal

To view the purposes they believe they have legitimate interest for, or to object to this data processing use the vendor list link below. You can rotate and flip the piece into whatever orientation you want as long as it doesn’t touch sides with another one of your pieces. During your turn, see if you can block the corners of your opponents’ pieces with the edges on your tiles. The only caveat to placing a piece is that it may not lie adjacent to your other pieces, but instead must be placed touching at least one corner of your pieces already on the board. As you see, the “1” piece consists of only one block, which makes it the easiest piece to play in the game.

It was designed by French mathematician Bernard Tavitian [2] and first released in 2000 by Sekkoïa, a French company. When you play a tile, you must place it so it touches a corner on at least one of your other pieces.

Identifying passages through your opponents’ lines allows you to reach new regions thanks to the gaps in other players’ pieces. Players need to see what shape will fit best in developing patterns and ensure that they can continue to let their colour grow.

Board Game Country is a place where old-school and new-school board gamers meet to share their experiences in the board gaming world. Be careful when you place your piece since your opponents will be looking for ways to block you as well! If a player places all of their tiles they will score 15 points and if the final piece placed is the single 1×1 square, the a bonus of five is also added. Learn, follow, and practice these Blokus strategies to improve your skills and bring your game to a new level.

You may already know Blokus, an abstract strategy board game where you compete against other players to score the most points after placing as many Tetris-shaped pieces on the board as possible.Options for play often fall into two groups; there may be one clear move for a specific piece, or the player may be faced with a large variety of tile choices.

Also, a player placing a piece cannot do so if it would create any empty space underneath any part of the piece. The score is set by adding all of your color blocks placed on the board and subtracting the blocks left in your hand (those that you weren’t able to put). Although I don’t personally use this strategy, I think it is important for you to know it and to identify when a player is deploying its pieces like this. Travel Blokus was later re-released as the smaller version of the original Blokus game, rather than Blokus Duo.Our mission is to produce engaging articles like reviews, tips and tricks, game rules, strategies, etc. Like Blokus Duo, it is played by two players on a 14×14 board, but it uses only a subset of the pieces that have simpler shapes. The weakness of this opening is a very low ratio of corners to dead squares in your home corner, leaving you vulnerable to being walled in during the midgame if you have concentrated on the far side of the board. With this opening, players aim to block their opponents by leaving no possibility to move through their corners, unless the 1 piece is used. Whenever a player is unable to place one of his/her remaining pieces on the board, that player must pass his/her turn.
