About this deal

The good thing is that since it is perpendicular to the fronts, you can’t really tell that they don’t completely match. Improved shine and durability can be achieved by first sealing the surface with Briwax Sanding Sealer. There are many copies of Teak Oil, and many alternative oil-based finishes including the traditional linseed and tung oil based products.

For best results and to prevent a blotchy appearance timber should always be previously sealed with Briwax Danish Oil or Shellac Sanding Sealer. If you apply two further coats of Briwax Teak Oil over the first coat of Danish Oil, this will give you a gloss finish. Your best bet may be to get some wax and try it out on a space that is not obvious, like the back of a cabinet door. As with any clear finish, oils do not give complete protection from the harsh rays of the New Zealand sun.To keep the finish clean and not look distressed, I was sure to get the grooves cleaned out, running my fingernail or a butter knife covered with the cloth in the crack to get out any excess wax. We had our cabinets refinished a few months ago and now we’re looking into DIYing the cabinets in our laundry room.

It's a lot easier to create a good finish when the wax is firm, particularly with the darker colours. Note; the product is not designed for use in areas where it will come into contact with water or heat. I’m not familiar with Danish oil, but my understanding would be that and the briwax would need to be maintained at some point some years down the road. If you want your floor to have a gloss finish, apply Danish Oil for the first coat as described above, then use Teak Oil for the second and subsequent coats. For getting into cracks, I really globbed on the wax, then wiped away the cracks and hard to reach places with a butter knife/ flathead screwdriver, etc, wrapped with my rag.Once the Briwax has set, you can take your updating to another level by updating the cabinet hardware.

Wax is not waterproof, and if spills are allowed to stay on waxed surfaces they can cause white spotting or watermarks. We are having new countertops/sink/backsplash put in and then I’m hoping everyone will see what I see in them! With very hard woods you can thin down the oils 10 to 15% with mineral turpentine to give better penetration. One of the biggest advantages of Danish Oil is that it's very easy to repair the surface if it gets damaged.Wipe down the surfact with mineral turpentine and 0000 grade steel wool, and apply one more coat with a cloth. I know this blog post is old…but I wanted to let you know that I put the Briwax on my builder grade cabinets, added a large center island (cabinets in a greenish color), New countertops, Island lighting, flooring and backsplash…doing this to our perfectly fine cabinets saved us tons of money and it looks very modern.

Our administrative function are in the “cloud” and most of our team are working remotely and following government guidelines for social distancing. I would really like to try this, but I am not sure how to change out my existing hardware without leaving holes.Along the edges where the grain is perpendicular to the edge, I just sort of globbed it on, then was sure to buff in the direction of the grain. This product can expose you to chemicals including Toluene which is known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm.
