About this deal

It is also a confidence builder as it shows that you may not be perfect but can achieve what you want in the end! This spectacularly imaginative picture book will spark endless conversations, ideas, and inspiration for creative writing and artwork in Year 2. Happy Families ran for two series, 24 episodes in all (since each story was split over two episodes), and was shown on Children's BBC in 1989 and 1990.

Possibly the most evil teacher in the world gets her comeuppance in style thanks to Junkyard, Pencil and Spider, who come up with a cunning plan. Incredible artwork makes this an ideal year 2 book for imaginative storytelling, especially with emerging readers.

Art teachers will see lots of opportunities to inspire pastel work using the illustrations as an impetus. It is guided by the Education Adviser, Brian Thompson, and written by the award-winning author, Allan Ahlberg. Three children escape from their tower block into a fantasy land of magic and adventure in this compelling illustrated modern fable.

The cafe is a huge success as the children, Miss and Master Wobble, are on had to catch the food that their mother drops, gaining a reputation as a juggling cafe. Traditional fairy tales, such as Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs are reworked in these extremely funny stories about a wolf who has some trouble making pancakes. We love the story about Mrs Wobble the waitress who drops everything and so when one hits the Manager, She gets sacked and the family start their own café with lots of fun ideas to help mum out. With a range of material to appeal to all ability ranges including the less able, the more able, reluctant readers, and struggling readers; these stories can be used for individual reading, reading with siblings, and whole class reading.Suitable for very independent year 2 readers, or perfect to read aloud to a class in storytime over a couple of weeks, this is a useful book to inspire imaginative ideas for writing.

This fun, well illustrated story would perhaps be suitable for slightly older readers in late Year 2 to Year 4. The wolf, witch, and giant are dissected with a series of clues, strengths, weaknesses, personality traits, and physical attributes.

A more challenging addition to your class library of books for year two and a great book for teachers or parents to read aloud.

Mrs Wobble eventually gets the sack after an episode where she dropped a jelly and it landed on her manager's head. This fun story with short chapters and rich language works well as a year 2 class reader or a read-aloud for the end of the day. By using the Web site, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions. this book can be used to retell the story orally, though shared and guided reading the children can reinforce and apply their word level skills.I knew the author and was familiar with the title of the book, but it was only when I read the first page that it brought back memories of reading it in my early childhood. He has published over 100 children's books and, with his late wife Janet, created such award winning picture books as EACH PEACH PEAR PLUM and THE JOLLY POSTMAN - both winners of the Kate Greenaway Medal.
