About this deal

It endures in the hearts and minds of children who grow up hearing and reading about magical people and places, and who find a real live world of those same characters in Glen, NH.

The map on the inside flap of the book's cover helped to situate the stories given the use of ancient and unfamiliar names for some of the areas of Britain. This gorgeous book should live on the bookshelves in every house that cares about the idea of Britain, what is was and where it came from. To give credit where it's due, despite how lacking the prose is, I appreciated how they were paired with critical commentary that shed light on these myths. If a story is set abroad, and relatable, that’s acceptable but it will have to work within the parameters of the budget and factor in transport, location costs and any potential travel restrictions. You can join them on their magical adventure travelling deep under the ocean and high up to castles on clouds.

They owned the buildings for nearly 30 years, until they were bought by the Morrell family around 2000 and adopted into Morrell Family Attractions. The most interesting thing about this book when I first saw it at Waterstones was how a book that is purportedly about the mythologies of Britain came to be named 'Storyland' as if the UK was the only land that stories could be about, whose stories matter. The second reason was that after each story was a little vignette of her visiting the place where the events were supposed to have taken place and they felt a bit bolted on. Jeffs tells of Scota, the foreign queen who settled first in Ireland and gave her name to the tribe, the Scotti, who’d one day settle Scotland.

The stories come with explanations of sources and legacies, and she has a lovely knack of rooting each one in the landscape that birthed it. Storyland will have up to eight projects going into development and up to three commissioned single dramas. Construction is underway for our ALL-NEW MOO LAGOON play area for the 2024 season, the Turtle Twirl and Flying Fish are closed for the season starting 9/19/23 to keep construction moving. In 1981 the Pirate Ship was the first boat attraction that brought families on a fun filled adventure through Buccaneer Bay! RTÉ and Northern Ireland Screen launch four brand new 20 minute dramas from Storyland 2017 on RTÉ Player. David Crean, Executive Producer for RTÉ Television said ‘The new series o f Storyland will explore dramas focused around a theme of ‘rage’. We can’t wait to see what great stories and new voices will be discovered through the scheme this year.
