About this deal

Bilbo looked a little too homely - perhaps an indication of my own prejudice in regard to what a 'heroic protagonist' should look like - the elves not ethereal or other-worldly enough. His earliest comics work was writing Evangeline first for Comico Comics in 1984 (then later for First Comics, who published the on-going series), on which he worked with his then-wife, the artist Judith Hunt. It tells the tale of Bilbo Baggins and his adventure to the Lonely Mountain with a group of dwarves. The Hobbit is the story of Bilbo Baggins, a quiet and contented hobbit whose life is turned upside down when he joins the wizard Gandalf and thirteen dwarves on their quest to reclaim their stolen treasure. The French did not only release Bilbo Le Hobbit in two volumes they also released a one volume hardcover with dustjacket in 1991.

It is perhaps as well to remember that this graphic novel was created a good decade before Peter Jackson’s first film of “The Lord of the Rings” and far, far before any of his films of The Hobbit. While the Dutch were the first to translate The Lord of the Rings, one can wonder what took them so long to translate the Hobbit comic into Dutch. with artist Tom Lyle in August 1987 and Valkyrie with artist Paul Gulacy in October 1987, he began work on Carl Potts' Alien Legion series for Marvel's Epic Comics imprint, under editor Archie Goodwin. If you are a fan of the Hobbit books or movie, you might want to snag this one and add it to your collection. In preparation for the December 2012 release of The Hobbit movie, this new edition of the full-color graphic novel adaptation of J.With more than 30 pages of new artwork and improvements by the artist, this new revised edition has been newly rescanned from the original paintings to produce the most authentic version ever published, to delight Hobbit fans old and new. It would have been nice to have twice as many pages to make it more readable and to improve the flow, but the reader is lucky to have even this many pages! Translated into Catalan by Josep Alcalde, El hòbbit was released by Norma Editorial with ISBN 84 7904 138 2. R. Tolkien's enchanting prelude to The Lord of the Rings is one of the best-loved books of all time.

Tolkien’s The Hobbit was an immediate success and has become one of the best-loved graphic novels of the last 25 years. His Punisher OGN Kingdom Gone (August, 1990) led to him working on the monthly The Punisher War Journal (and later, more monthly and occasional Punisher titles), and also brought him to the attention of DC Comics editor Denny O'Neil, who asked him to produce a Robin mini-series.I have also seen a similar book, but with the dustjacket, from 1992 released by Comics USA, this time around with ISBN 2 7242 5554 2. It was often said (in other families) that long ago one of the Took ancestors must have taken a fairy wife. Wenzel illustrated the three volumes that eventually were compiled into one book, and has remained busy over the years doing upgrades. This version must have been reprinted several times since I have seen publishing dates of 1994, 1996, etc. When I saw this graphic novel edition of the Hobbit, I was very curious as to how the story would play in the medium of the "comic".

As someone who on occasion dibble dabbles with paints and pencils (I'm not very good), I could really appreciate just how beautiful the artwork is and spent some time closely examining pages to see how elements were drawn. Translated into Czech by Frantisek Vrba, Hobit was released by Mlada fronta with ISBN 80 204 1027 9. But this time as I followed little Bilbo Baggins on his dangerous journey I was in awe of the author's rich and imaginative use of words. In March, 2002, Dixon turned his attention to CrossGen's output, salthough he co-wrote with Scott Beatty the origin of Barbara Gordon's Batgirl in 2003's Batgirl: Year One. The issues are numbered continuously: part one comprises pages 1 to 44 (up until the riddle-game), part two pages 45 to 88 (up until the rafts of the Lake-men), and part three pages 89 to 133.Translated into Italian by Caterina Ciuferri, Lo Hobbit a fumetti was released by Rusconi with ISBN 88 18 12163 4. Gandalf and the dwarves were very good, though, and the illustration of Smaug on page 101 is magnificent. I’d like to see a version that has a more dramatic depiction such as the art by Donato Giancola who illustrated the cover of this edition. That was, of course, absurd, but certainly there was still something not entirely hobbitlike about them, and once in a while members of the Took-clan would go and have adventures. Illustrated in full colour throughout, and accompanied by the carefully abridged text of the original novel, this handsome authorised edition will introduce new generations to a magical masterpiece – and be treasured by Hobbit fans of all ages, everywhere.

And I particularly appreciated the precise use of punctuation, with inverted commas always correctly placed, and use being made of semi-colons. The artwork from David Wenzel took an early pastoral focus and beautiful landscapes continued throughout. Then again, maybe Tolkien's ability to use a humble hero like Bilbo in a way you might not expect is what makes The Hobbit so brilliant!
