Really pleased with the scanner and the service offered by trade scanners - will definitely be recommending to colleagues. Every thing about the scanner is great, speed, picture quality, options, easy to use, looks good, the only down fall is it does chew on paper sometimes and this causes it to "jam" apart from that, it's perfect for our office! Starting with the first version of Fujitsus ScanSnap scanner that I reviewed—the ScanSnap fi-5110EOX, in 2004—Fujitsu has done a great job of turning out one impressive model after another, ratcheting up the performance and features over the years. The Mac version comes with additional Adobe software that I didn't want to pay for and I'd read enough reviews to know that Fujitsu had release Mac drivers for the Windows version (and Windows driver for the Mac version).

If you're used to scanning using your favorite program's scan command, and you prefer scanning that way, you will likely find that the ScanSnap approach feels counterintuitive. I would recommend this scanner to anyone who needs/wants to save documents but cannot justify the physical space. I find the issue arises when there are crinkles or existing folds in paper - most often the device takes 2 sheets at once.

That's been particularly true for all of the ScanSnap models—including the S1500—because Fujitsu doesn't provide a standard driver that will let you use the scan command from within a program. An additional advantage is that we can scan directly into SharePoint which saves us some additional steps in the scanning process. Please do not feel any sense of urgency based on our data, we exist only to help you save money in a calm and well-thought out manner.

Setup a 'Dropbox' account, and create an 'Inbox' folder in it, which you set to be the default scan location.

For easy access to this data, refer to the "ProductDescription" block and the "LongDesc" tag in XML or the "Description" block and the "LongDesc" tag in JSON. ScanSnap S1500 has several automatic features to help ensure scans look their best without operator intervention before or after they scan. We not dealing with extremely high volumes, but the scanner does what it does very well and has been easy to get used to. The way round this seems to be to fold against any creases and thumb through the paper so the ends are free, and keeping the document folder holder slides tight to the document. It is quick and I was delighted to find it scans both sides without having to turn original paper over.

You could use the software that comes with the scanner for this, but I don't usually like being tied into a particular piece of software for this sort of thing as it's not very future proof. Both of the Fujitsu programs use Office 2007-style Ribbons, which means you'll either love them or hate them, depending on how you feel about the Ribbon approach to menus. It is easy to load, quick and on the very rare occasion it has jammed it is a very quick process to take out the paper and start again, unlike other scanners where you end up with torn paper/documents after a jam.

As of mid 2022 I understood no driver was available to match the S1500 scanner with then current Mac OS.
