About this deal

When a book opens with a quote from a notorious, sadistic serial killer you know it’s going to be a wild ride.

Twice chosen as Children's Author of the Year in the British Book Awards, Anne Fine was also the first novelist to be honoured as Children's Laureate in the United Kingdom. Dark, twisty and pulsing with 'no let up' tension, Keep it In The Family will have you guessing until the very end--and likely checking out your own attic just to be sure. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Though readers often find themselves inadvertently laughing aloud as they read Anne Fine's novels, as she herself admits, "a lot of my work, even for fairly young readers, raises serious social issues.

Keep It in the Family follows Finn and Mia, a couple who have recently purchased their first family home. All of that said, I thought Keep It In The Family was absolutely brilliant and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Helen Cresswell (Viking 1992; Puffin 1993), and “Fight the Good Fight” was first published in Streets Ahead, ed. I’m also certain that given the right amount of time I would have polished Keep It in the Family off in just one hit. Keep It In The Family is a terrifying, convincing insight into nature versus nurture that is spellbinding and the most horrifying aspect is that the story is completely believable. From the first page I had shivers down my spine and was on the edge of my seat, full of anticipation at the promise of such a chilling tale. By giving each of them a voice we are able to really get inside their minds and discover who they are.Piece by piece the mystery of this house of horrors is revealed and Mia realises that her life might be in danger. What stayed in my mind the most when it came to Keep It in the Family was the debate surrounding nature versus nurture, inherited family trauma, double lives, murder, secrets and psychological tendencies. However, as much as this was truly awful to read about, I felt there was a line of possible truth to this story.

I’m a huge fan of John Marrs – both as a man and an author – so I couldn’t be more delighted than to participate in this blog tour for his latest book, Keep It In The Family.I could’ve given this book a higher rating but I docked some points for the fact it was more difficult to read than it should’ve been. Minna gets sick and wishes her mum was a better nurse; when the tables are turned, who is the better nurse and patient?

I would have absolutely stopped reading it if I was the type to, fortunately (or unfortunately for myself) I am not. In the wake of their traumatic discovery, the baby arrives and Mia can’t shake her fixation with the monstrous crimes that happened right above them. Pregnant at the time, Mia then goes on to become obsessed with the findings to the detriment of all else, including her baby.

It's about a girl who has to catch the bus to school every day back in the days when passengers in the single decker buses were allowed to smoke, and she hates the smell of cigarettes.
