This second book still had all the things I loved from the first, but also expanded the story so well! The story went in directions I wasn't expecting, but I loved seeing how these characters grew throughout. I also loved getting to see the customs and culture of the other side of the island, and meeting so many new characters. I enjoyed seeing the differences and similarities of the Breccans and Tamerlaines. However, I would say that the world building was a little muddy in places as we skim over the details of the various elements and magic and how exactly music is utilised. The plot is also a little predictable in places, with situations and plot points that are easily resolved by a handy word from a friendly sprite or, to put it more precisely, a memory. However, that isn't to day I wasn't intrigued by the story and I found while I was reading this that I couldn't put it down, swept away in the lush settings and easy writing style. It was certainly an enjoyable time.

Whatever A River Enchanted had, A Fire Endless has that only its MORE. It is more romantic, more adventurous, more heartfelt and has a plot that just expands deeper with each chapter. I wont go into details because this is a second book and I think you know by now how much I love it. The tenuous balance of the Isle of Cadence is under threat from Bane, the spirit of the north wind . She was home with Torin. She may have been in the west, with sunlight streaming in through the window, but she was home in his arms. She had never felt safer, or more deeply known and loved as he whispered her name." East and west. Humans and spirits. Breccans and Tamerlaines. The Isle of Cadence has always held itself in a tenuous balance. But now Bane, the spirit of the North Wind, has pushed everything off-kilter in a bid to claim dominion over human and spirit alike. The tenuous balance of the Isle of Cadence is under threat from Bane, the spirit of the north wind.

Speaking of romance, I feel like that word truly encapsulates the entirety of the duology. Not just in terms of the relationships themselves, but regarding the setting, and the magic, and the writing itself. The tone of the narrative is intensely romantic. Reading this made my heart hurt, but in the best way possible. Something about the loveliness of Ross’s craftsmanship and creativity made me yearn. Half of me and half of you,” Sidra insisted. “Until they become their own person.” I can’t I’m literally obsessed with them 😭🫶🏻

With lush worldbuilding and lyrical prose, A River Enchanted feels like the echo of a folktale from a world right next to our own.” — Hannah Whitten, New York Times bestselling author of For the Wolf She could call him whatever she felt like, because he was with her and that was all that mattered to him. He was breathing the same air as her, standing in the same moment with her. She let them all go because he was her home, her shelter. Her endless fire, burning through the dark. Like, I can't even tell you anything that is objectively wrong here, at all. Not very much of a useful review, in terms of y'all being like okay that is a helpful piece of information! More useful probably is that the consensus on this book is that it is a good ending to the duology. Many people whose opinions I trust on Goodreads have said it was bettera than A River Enchanted! Sidra had never seen an ailment so unearthly, and she thought about the magical afflictions she had healed in the past. There were two kinds: wounds made by enchanted blades, and illnesses that came as a consequence of wielding magic. Weavers who wove secrets into plaids and smiths who hammered spells into steel. Fishermen who knotted nets with charms and cobblers who made shoes from leather and dreams. In the east, casting magic through one’s craft exacted a painful, physical cost, and Sidra had an array of tonics to ease the symptoms.

Vividly imagined . . . This will appeal to lovers of fantasy from NAME OF THE WIND to the Earthsea series' You and I have faced many things alone. Between the mainland and the isle, the east and the west, we've carried our troubles in solitude. As if it were weakness to share one's burden with another. But I am with you now. I am yours, and I want you to lay your burdens down on me.” Sidra remained at Hamish’s side. She wasn’t sure what had afflicted the boy. What had possibly crept beneath his skin and stained his blood, weighing him down in the water, causing him to drown. if you did not like the first book you probably wouldn’t like this one but i can admit it was a lot better!! In the West, Adaira struggles to adjust to the more brutal, bitter ways of life among the Breccans. Striving to find her place in the clan, she swiftly realizes that it just might be the lastrole she desires to hold. And while magic blooms effortlessly for the Breccans in the west, the spirits continue to suffer beneath Bane’s harsh power, felt in every gust of wind.Torin and Sidra-My King and Queen! My love for them can't be measured but I confess that Sidra is my absolute favorite character throughout this series. This woman is a pillar of strength, grace and wisdom. She is PERFECT and I am devoted to her! This book really allows her to show how strong and capable she is, and I was loving all it. My poor Torin found himself in a precarious situation again and even though I loved how he ultimately handled his business; I have to admit I was not a fan of how they had my babies separated for most of the book. Especially since they couldn't communicate for some of book one and now again, they were shoved apart and I was quite grumpy about to be honest. In the stunning conclusion to the Elements of Cadence duology, A Fire Endless finds the delicate balance between the human and faerie realm threatened by Bane, the spirit of the North Wind, whose defeat can only come through fire, song, and heart-rending sacrifice. Vividly imagined . . . This will appeal to lovers of fantasy from NAME OF THE WIND to the Earthsea series’

Ross creates a magical story with lyrical prose that draws the reader into the tale and its setting. Recommend this series to fans of Jeffe Kennedy, Susanna Clarke, and Terry Brooks." — Library JournalAt once a fast-paced mystery and a love story as warm as a hearth . . . This is a classic in the making." — Ava Reid, internationally bestselling author of The Wolf and the Woodsman, on A River Enchanted In the west, Adaira struggles to find her place. And, though magic blooms there, the spirits suffer beneath Bane’s harsh power, felt in every gust of wind. i truly did love this book, although it made me a bitttt sleepy at points!! the ending was absolutely perfect, the perfect ending to a series <33
