About this deal

If you are interested in the competitive standpoint, when we talk about statistics, a tremendous effort is done by Rob from the Honest Wargamer, Ziggy and Tsports Network! in the AoS Stat Centre with precious information, constantly kept up to date.

This initially looks like a big downgrade for Vyrkos but holistically this subfaction has substantially improved and can run a downright nasty aggressive infantry build. Battle Traits This is the largest Battleforce of 2021 if we are looking purely at the number of models. Though this set has 40 zombies. 40! that’s near enough 20 twins. Sure it’s a lot of models, but as a painter, this is the last thing I want.

Popular

Their Finest Hour: can be used only once by each hero to improve save and wound rolls by 1 for that turn. The Warhorde of Eternus, if you’re a Chaos collector, is quite an appealing box for its infantry and cavalry choices. However, with Eternus at the head, it does thematically restrict this Slaves to Darkness force to a Be’lakor one rather than an Archaon one – though this can be remedied by building him as a regular joe Chaos Lord. That said, these are all new sculpts from late last year – it’s basically the Slaves to Darkness launch set with Eternus and some Chaos Warriors sprinkled in. The army has a bit for everyone, from elite cavalry to hordes of skeletons or zombies, but the most effective way to play is to rely on its hordes, both as sacrificial pieces and as your hammer/anvil. The core gameplay is divided indeed in vampires and summonable units, setting a bit aside anything in between. Lore of the Soulblight Gravelords in Age of Sigmar As you might have expected with the changes to other Death battletomes, this is now a 6+ ward without condition. Spell Lores

From Warcry we have the Askurgan Trueblades, a group of ascetic vampires still able to heal after wounding and with one model, the Curseblood, that can give Strike-last effect to an engaged enemy unit. Enemy monsters will find them tougher to hit, and if they get killed, the Askurgan upgrade their profile for the rest of the game. It’s a grave situation, but this is a great time to be a fan(g) of all things undead… Alright, enough with the puns and on to the reveals. Mortisan Ossifector It’s time to get a little bit spooky with the best valued box of the lot – the Ossiarch Bonereapers Praetorian Spearhead. This box by far has the largest discount of 41% average, on par with the 40K Battleforces. It has an eclectic mix of lots of infantry and big unit models, as well as cavalry – I can see this one being the most popular Sigmar box. Killdakka, what a wonderful word to say out loud… Ork speech is poetry when you think about it. This box includes 20 Boyz, plus a Deffkilla Wartrike, your choice of Orky aeroplane, and a Big Mek. That’s lots of kill, and indeed dakka.

Vyrkos Dynasty

Expand the Grave-empires is extremely battleplan situational, and needs you to hold two or more objectives wholly outside of your territory and have them also be contested by summonable or vampire units. If the situation comes up this can be a gimme, but there will be games where it’s literally impossible.

Afflicted by the terrible curse that gives them their name, the Soulblight Gravelords are powerful undead monstrosities eternally hungering for the blood that sustains them. Commanding legions of undead servants and terrifying monsters in the name of their creator, Nagash, these lords of Shyish make use of every means available to conquer the Mortal Realms and bring their prey into line. This army is the successor of the previous Legions of Nagash, a placeholder “soup” battletome that contained all Death units not gathered in other battletomes. It differs from Legions as a few units have been removed, some added, and most received new sculpts, but the core and playstyle of the army remain really similar. The Deathrattle Skeletons are a bit of a miss, but not entirely. While I don’t care for them as much as Deadwalker Zombies or Dire Wolves I think they have value, especially if you intend to play a more casual game. Get a Necromancer or Wight Lord to go with them and they’ll hold their own just fine. Final Verdict: Must-buy Lumineth Realm-Lords – Vanari Shining Host

There’s an important note on the Vyrkos enhancements here – unique Vyrkos units can take these traits and artefacts. Vyrkos is bursting with great named characters and this lets you take them with no regrets, there’s also some pretty nice combinations out there. An unusual set here, all of the command traits target a specific unit type and apply an effect when your general is within 3” of that unit type. You will run into games where these will do nothing in an all-comers list, but the trade-off is that they all have a significant effect. While the Ossiarch Bonereapers may bring efficiency and structure to bear, the Soulblight Gravelords exercise lethal charisma and saunter into battle, commanding innumerable hordes of shambling dead and bloodthirsty beasts .
