About this deal

With safety and the vast resources of the Eldar Empire, the Aeldari became insular. They ceased looking outwards for new inspiration, preferring to explore their desires and hedonistic impulses. The Eldar Empire became darker; twisted needs and terrible acts becoming commonplace as they slaked their lusts on each other and the many lesser races that populated the galaxy. Suggested starting kits: Start Collecting! T'au Empire, T'au Empire Pathfinder Team, T'au Empire Fire Warriors Strike Team

Grade (B+). Every unit included (bar the Wraiths of course) is just a tad bit better than the former set but the biggest advantage is the discount. 50% is just insane value, with the added benefit of an exclusive miniature on top. All have a few things in common, having the Path of Command, which gives re-roll 1s to hit to units within 6″, and 6+ CP regen on CP you spend if they’re your warlord. They also all have a 4+ invulnerable save and a 3+ base save. Masters of Concealment: Always in cover outside of 12″. Less good on Eldar than it is on Marines, but still very handy for buffing up the defences of vehicles and planes. B Rangers are probably the best Troop choice Eldar have access to. They are cheap, they are resilient, they can target characters and they can deal mortal wounds. They can use deepstrike and come with a natural -1 to hit. All for the lovely price of 60 points. Craftworld Warlord traits are sadly pretty weak compared to newer ones, though there are still some choices that are at least valid.

So as I´ve said before, you need 2 HQ`s and 3 Troops. So now I´m trying to show you a handful of archetypes you can use to fill out that first detachment. Seriously though, we’ve been through the Runes of Fate powers and seen just how good they are, and these are the guys that get to wield them. You want those powers, so you want one of these. Shard of Anaris : Eldar have no less than three relic power swords, all of which look a bit silly next to modern relic weapons, but this is definitely the least bad. It gets damage d3 and re-rolls wounds all the time, so while it won’t let your Wing Autarch do much to a tank, it does actually let him meaningfully engage with enemy characters or elite infantry. C+ So from a pure monetary perspective this set is probable a B. You are saving close to 40% when buying this set. Which sounds great, but other sets have even better margins. So let´s take a look at the units inside. The universe of Warhammer 40k always exacts a price, however, and the one that the Eldar paid for their twisted ways and pride was one they paid in blood and terror – and one that the galaxy continues to pay.

Lots of Bad Units: The early 8th Craftworld codex has, bluntly, been left behind by design trends, and a lot of the units are just outright not very good any more. The founder of the Fire Dragons, Phoenix Lord Fuegan exists only to vent his rage on his foes in the form of terrifying billows of flame. With thousands of years of experience of war, Fuegan is a terrifying foe on the battlefield, striding forth to setall to fire and ruin in his quest to destroy the enemies of the Aeldari. Even Aeldari engines of war are swift and agile, including tanks like the Fire Prism , which uses an intricate crystalline matrix to focus energy into either destructive pinpoint spears of light that can pierce the most formidable armour or deadly blasts that can obliterate hordes of armoured infantry. Harlequins Where they differ is in the costs and the rest of their stats. The foot Autarch has plasma grenades and a star glaive to use with his 4A (-1 to hit, Sx2, AP-3, d3 damage) and weighs in at 80pts. Being cheap is his main attraction, and he can be a good choice to slot into a gunline army (and is another good user of Faolchu’s Wing). With all of that said, it´s time for a final verdict. Keep in mind though that this grade will look at the Eldar half of the set - so the major downside of it will not be included. If you don´t want the Marines and have no-one to share, it becomes less desirable.Linked Fire (1CP) : We’ll explain this in the Fire Prism section. If you have them, you’re spamming this. B+ Doom, a Runes of Fate ability, lets you re-roll failed wound rolls made against an enemy unit within 24”. Finally, Focus Will, a Runes of Fortune ability, gives a friendly psyker +2 to their cast rolls during the current phase. These only scrape the surface of what’s possible for Craftworlds Eldar psykers; you’ve got a great well of abilities to choose from.

Diviners of Fate: All models have a 6++. Currently, defensively, this is inferior to Alaitoc and inferior to Ulthwe against D1 weaponry on infantry. However, you get to take this and another, so it could be worth a look if you really want one of the others and don’t have any particular needs. C Attribute – Swordwind: re-roll hit rolls of 1 with shuriken weapons. In addition, ASPECT WARRIORS have +1Ld Headstrong & Hunters of Ancient Relics: Is your entire Craftworld plan built around throwing Shining Spears at people? Good news, this might be for you.

Craftworld Attributes

At 8pts for a T3 5+ model, the basic Guardian is twice the cost of a Guard infantry trooper for the same resilience. However, with their BS of 3+ and two shuriken shots each within 12”, if you can get them into that range they’re more dangerous than a Tactica The Aeldari are an ancient and once-proud race whose hubris caused their demise. As their civilisation reached new heights of technology and culture, and they came to dominate the galaxy around them, they began to seek stranger and darker pleasures.
