About this deal

Quite often the best way to introduce something educational is in the form of a card game. Teach your kids the Rat a Tat Cat rules to encourage their math development and also introduce them to card game skills from a young age. After all, not just any game is able to win the Mensa Select award, which Rat a Tat Cat managed in 1996. On his or her turn, the player takes a card. This can either be the top card of the discard pile (so long as it is not an action card), or the top card of the draw pile. When taking a card from the discard pile, the player must replace one of own face-down cards with that card, then put the replaced card face-up into the discard pile. When drawing a card from the draw pile, the player can choose to replace one of own face-down cards with that card, or put the drawn card directly into the discard pile.

Now you will know what you have, or you can refresh your memory if you have forgotten what you have. Your turn is over and you discard the Peek card. Choose one player to be the dealer. The oldest player can be the scorekeeper. The scorekeeper will record each player's score at the end of each round of play.

Action cards may only be used when they are taken from the draw pile. They cannot be taken from the discard pile and do nothing if found among the face-down cards. After use, they are immediately put into the discard pile. If an action card is taken from the draw pile, it has the following effect: Bonus: Reverse Charades is another game that would work for reluctant readers- communication skills are huge in this game! Reverse Charades encourages cooperation and teamwork. The game requires that children play with words and ideas and get creative and playful. It’s a great game for wiggle worms! It can also encourage more timid players to come out of their shells a bit, as is safety in numbers!

Kingdomino (fun for everyone, and it doesn’t really matter if the littlest ones don’t follow the rules)This is a perfect party game. It would be the ideal family game for gatherings like Thanksgiving or New Year’s Eve. If you’ve ever played a game like Poker, or already know the Tripoley rules then you’re already some way there to know about a key part of Rat a Tat Cat. If not, then you should be an expert in no time by reading on. Rat a Tat Cat takes elements from arguably the most popular card game (Poker) and simplifies the idea so that kids can learn about card skills such as bluffing. Get rid of the rats and go for the cats! In Rat-a-Tat Cat, less is always better, and you want to go out with the lowest score. Can you remember the numbers on other players' cards?

When you draw a Swap card, show the Swap card and discard it. You may now switch any one of your cards with any card of another player (swapping is optional). Once all players have their cards, it is important that nobody looks at their cards. If anyone looks before permitted, then the cards will need reshuffling and redealing. Rat-a-Tat Cat is a memory card game designed by Monty and Ann Stambler [1] and published by Gamewright. It won a Mensa Select award in 1996. The Washington Post described it as "like poker for kids". [2] Draw the top card from the discard pile. This card MUST be used to replace one of her cards. The card replaced is then discarded, face up, to the discard pile; OR

Or if you have kids that are fans of board games, have a look at our guides to some kid-friendly games. For each round, there is a judge. The judge plays a caption card. The caption card might say something like “I can’t believe I ate the whole thing!” or “I know I’m going to regret this” or “It seemed like a good idea at the time” or “That’s going to leave a mark” and each player selects her best photo for that round’s caption. The game may end three different ways, depending on what the group decides. The group may play for a certain number of rounds or for a specific length of time. In these cases, the player with the lowest points at the end of the game is the winner. If you want your kids to giggle uncontrollably, you have to play this game with them! It is absolutely hilarious. Not Parent Approved is an award-winning fill-in-the-blank game that will have your entire family in stitches. This game is inspired by the adult game, Cards Against Humanity, but unlike that game, this one is entirely appropriate for families.

This isn't my answer yet, just some observations. I might take a stab at creating a computer simulation that can be easily customized with different numbers of players, different player strategies, and possibly different rule sets (children's variant where the outermost cards are public information, and perhaps a reverse of the normal rules where the outermost cards are only known to player whose hand they are in, but the innermost cards are known to every other player). If you’re after more easy but fun card games for your kids to play, consider reading the Nertz Card game rules, Blink card game rules, Golf card game rules or the Apples to Apple rules. Rat a Tat Cat is unique for a kid’s game as the play doesn’t continue until a set point, it only ends once a player believes that they have the lowest score. I highly recommend Rat-a-Tat Cat for families with young children. This is an almost perfect game for kids which will teach them a few things and build some skills while also entertaining them. The game is very cheap to buy and you should get hours and hours of enjoyment out of it. For gamers who aren’t children, I actually still think it is worth a look. While I doubt hardcore gamers who need a lot of strategy in their games will enjoy it, I actually did like the game and plan to keep it as a nice filler game.Overturn one card from the draw pile face up to start a discard pile to put used cards in. Rat a Tat Cat Rules and Gameplay I’m interested in how your games fit into those cases. Do you use more than one per game? I think I’m going to put dragon wood on our wish list!
