About this deal

The default 12MP photos from the main camera are sharp and detailed. We observed accurate (if a bit subdued) colors and the dynamic range was always great and we never used HDR. Areas of high complexity such as foliage and building blinds are not as nicely presented and what appears to be overly aggressive noise-reduction process smears some fine detail. There are noticeable oil-painting-like areas here and there. It’s not the brightest we’ve seen, only reaching 370.8cd/m2 in our test. That’s not a disaster in the greater scheme of things, but it does mean you may struggle on a particularly bright day. Still, for the price, this is a very fine display indeed. Honor 9X Pro review: Performance B1 (2100) , B3 (1800) , B5 (850) , B8 (900) , B38 (TDD 2600) , B39 (TDD 1900) , B40 (TDD 2300) , B41 (TDD 2500)

The Honor 9X Pro has the same camera setup as its predecessor, where the main 48-megapixel f/1.8 sensor is supported by two extra lenses – an 8-megapixel f/2.4 wide-angle camera and a 2-megapixel f/2.4 depth sensor. This is the follow up to the rather good Honor 9X. As you might expect, the word Pro means it comes with more processing grunt, with the Kirin 710 processor subbed out for a 2.27GHz octa-core Kirin 810. The 6GB RAM remains the same but there’s also a generous 256GB of internal storage, which itself can be expanded via microSD cards. This, to put it mildly, is unfortunate. Because if this stylish smartphone had all the trappings you’d expect software wise, it would surely get our seal of approval. As it is though, it’s impossible to recommend. Honor 9X Pro review: What you need to know Join the HONOR Community, an official HONOR club where you can share information, get support and advice from other HONOR users. Discover more ? ? ? Various connectivity options on the Honor 9X Pro include WiFi - Yes Wi-Fi 802.11, ac/b/g/n/n 5GHz, Mobile Hotspot, Bluetooth - Yes v5.0, and 4G (supports Indian bands), 3G, 2G. Sensors on the Honor 9X Pro include Light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Compass, Gyroscope.Rear camera: Primary - 48MP, 27mm, f/1.8; PDAF; Ultrawide - 8MP, 13mm, f/2.4; Depth sensor - 2MP. Video recording up to 1080p@30fps.

The 60fps footage from the main camera is richer in detail and that's probably because there is no EIS involved like on the 30fps clips. It’s better indoors, too. Though all phone cameras struggle with low-light conditions to some degree, budget and mid-range handsets suffer the most. Still, once again, the Honor 9X Pro has the upper hand: images are considerably less noisy, less blurry and have more detail. You can’t really argue with the results for the price, with the Honor 9X Pro punching above its weight in terms of image quality and detail. Pro mode is available via the mode selector, and there you can adjust the parameters yourself - ISO (50 to 102,400), shutter speed (1/4000s to 30s), exposure compensation (-4 to +4EV in 1/3 stop increments), and white balance (presets and light temperature).

These narrow boats show up fairly well, making what was a scene lit only by distant lights on the other side of the canal look like a grim afternoon. However, the Pixel 3a conjures up something that looks like it was taken during a bright day. If you were looking for something that still looked like it was taken at night, maybe the Honor is more to your taste, but I really like how the Google phone was able to show me colors and detail I never would have been able to with my own eyes. Connectivity options on the Honor 9X Pro include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v4.20, USB Type-C, Headphones, 3G, and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Sensors on the phone include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, compass/ magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and fingerprint sensor. Finally, the electronic stabilization is always-on and does a very good job. We would appreciate an option to turn it off though.

Great hardware, but without Google apps the Honor 9X Pro is impossible to recommend

Have you been wondering how HONOR 9A & HONOR 9X Pro run on Huawei Mobile Service (HMS) and if it's worth buying? BTW, I can use all apps perfectly now and of course, I find no differences between using the Google store on the HONOR 9X Pro and other phones.
